Welcome to the 2019 SGA Secret Santa challenge!

Please be patient with me, as I'm still quite new to running fests! I will have the wonderful dorothyoz1939 helping out!

Schedule

★ Sign-ups: Now thru Oct. 14
Assignments will be sent out by the 16th. You must reply to the email to confirm receipt.

★ Required Check-In: Nov. 29
Check-in will be done via email. If I don't hear from you, your assignment will be turned over to a pinch hitter.

★ Posting Period: Dec. 10 to Dec. 23
You are responsible for posting your gift to this community. Posting instructions will be provided when the time nears.

★ Author Reveals: December 25th


Rules

This is a secret-santa style exchange open to all pairings and genres (gen/het/slash/femslash/multi).

1. All stories must be at least 1,000 words in length. Everyone who signs up to receive a story is expected to write one in return.

2. Additionally, all stories must be a complete, stand-alone work and must be beta read.

3. Remember: Keep your identity a secret from your recipient until you post your gift! If you need to ask a question of your recipient, contact me and I'll be your go-between.

4. Be responsive to all mod communications. This includes replying to the assignment email and responding at check-in. Please provide an email you check regularly, and make sure sgasecretsanta@gmail.com is white-listed.

4. Stick to the deadlines. This is my only Christmas wish! However, if you find yourself needing to drop out or needing an extension, email me right away.

5. If you drop out after the Check-in OR if you simply disappear, you will not be allowed to participate next year. If you think you might be ineligible this year, you can contact me to double-check before signing up.

6. If you're willing, please provide a gen option. This will make matching with people requesting rare pairs or fic about minor characters much easier to match.

*ETA* I FIGURED IT OUT. Apparently setting a sign up date is meaningless (then why have it????) and you have to manually open sign-ups.

It's basically a list of what you like and what you don't like. You also list what you're willing to write and what you're absolutely NOT willing to write.

I want to sign up but the link stupidly takes me to my old AO3 admin page which doesn't even work any more but which I can't delete because I'm no longer admin and can't ask to be deleted because I'm no longer in the loop... So, can you please give me the URL for the sign up page, instead? Then I can access it using my 'current' account! Sorry to be a nuisance. Somebody clearly didn't totally clear my stuff when I 'retired'.

It still took me to my old account... but this time with an option to log in from my new one, so I managed it. I've got the page open and am filling everything in but am totally mystified by the lines asking for links to santa letter and prompt URL so might just have to leave those blank and you can shout at me...

Thanks for taking the time to send me the link! I'm hoping I've now retrained the link system!!

A "Dear Santa" letter is basically you writing a letter to whomever will be gifting you a fic. You write things you do like - "I like John/Rodney, first times, supernatural au's. I also really like it when Rodney gets to be badass."

You also list things you DON'T like. "I don't like cheating fics, BDSM, or character death."

When people were still being hand-matched (ao3 does it for us now based on what tags and such you put in), you'd write what you were willing to write and what you were NOT willing to write.

I re-read the instructions and it seems that too many tags are worse than too few so I'll relax! The above is one of my new icons I told you I'd make. Feel free to share.

sorry I have another question! If I fill in all three request options, I don't want three gifts I just want to make options for people, this is not going to make three separate requests for gifts?

I'm pretty sure it'll be okay. It was last year, anyway. People put in 3 different options.
