Rules

This is a secret-santa style exchange open to all pairings and genres (gen/het/slash/femslash/multi).

1. All stories must be at least 1,000 words in length. Everyone who signs up to receive a story is expected to write one in return.

2. Additionally, all stories must be a complete, stand-alone work and must be beta read.

3. Remember: Keep your identity a secret from your recipient until you post your gift! If you need to ask a question of your recipient, contact me and I'll be your go-between.

4. Be responsive to all mod communications. This includes replying to the assignment email and responding at check-in. Please provide an email you check regularly, and make sure sgasecretsanta@gmail.com is white-listed.

4. Stick to the deadlines. This is my only Christmas wish! However, if you find yourself needing to drop out or needing an extension, email me right away.

5. If you drop out after the Check-in OR if you simply disappear, you will not be allowed to participate next year. If you think you might be ineligible this year, you can contact me to double-check before signing up.

Things I'd DISLIKE: My only strong DNWs are public humiliation, heavy kinks (like scat, bestiality or BDSM), size/daddy/age kink, rape between requested pairing, A/B/O, permanent genderswap, and mpreg. Things I don't often like but you won't have to fret if your idea touches on them: AMTDI, vampires/werewolves/supernatural/college/coffeeshop AUs, kidfic (babysitting/adopting/raising one), excessive fluff and domesticity (happy, cute and upbeat is good, buying house and deciding furniture while calling each other booboo not so much), focusing on holiday season/religion/spirituality, bi erasure.

Pairings/characters I'd like: Rodney/John as the focus. Background Evan/Parrish, Teyla/Kanan, Teyla/Elizabeth, Elizabeth/Radek, Ronon/Keller, and Carson/Cadman are all fine with me. I love Team Fic so anything with John, Rodney, Ronon, and Teyla is awesome. But I also love seeing fic that incorporates all of Atlantis so if you feel ambitious go for it!
Things I'd LIKE: Hurt/comfort - I am especially fond of fics where Rodney gets hurt and John angsts because he should have protected his geek or w/e. (I also really like the idea that Kolya wants Rodney's smarts in addition to revenge on John - so adding him in, maybe he kidnaps and tortures poor Rodney, would be fun) But in general I like seeing characters get beat up, tortured, even non-con sometimes if it feels organic to the situation - just so long as there's comfort later. I even like "died and came back" and "thought you were dead but you weren't" so long as they dont stay dead. Romance - I like fics where they get together, I like pre-established relationship fics. Either way, I adore the fics where there's this quiet domesticity between John and Rodney, the way there is when you've lived with someone a while. I like action/adventure - wraith attack! mission to planet whatever that goes wrong! space battles! - so have fun if you're inclined to write that stuff. I love the idea of soulmate fics, and I like a lot of other AUs, too - fantasy, kidfic (regardless of if this is based on Earth or Atlantis lol), BDSM, and probably more I can't think of right now lol.
Possible prompt - so for a while now I've been trying to write a fantasy AU based on this thing my friend keeps saying about John and Elizabeth - "The relationship is more like a knight and his queen than a shippy one" so I thought it'd be fun to try to do a fantasy AU with Queen Elizabeth and Head Knight John who is in love with Alchemist/High Sorcerer/whatever Rodney. But I keep getting stuck. So if you'd like to use the idea feel free.

- No AUs in universes not related to stargate (coffee shops, book stores, etc); or AUs with big changes from our Stargate universe where Sheppard doesn’t join the military, Mitchell never recuperates from his injuries in Antarctica, or Earth has been invaded by aliens, etc.
- Crossovers with other shows that aren’t stargate (I’ve only seen the first 4 or so episodes of SGU, so please avoid in depth knowledge of this show. It’s ok if you mention it, or if you use a character as a minor character in your story, but don’t expect me to know anything about it but the mere basics).
- Please avoid supernatural things like zombies, vampires, witches, etc I’m not fond of dragons either.
- No gender swap. Body swap it’s ok if it’s temporary and serves the story, like in SG1’s ‘Holiday’ (in which case feel free to put whoever you want inside whoever you want, gender not withstanding).
- No character bashing, please. It’s more than okay to criticize actions/decisions/etc the character made, but there’s no need for bashing.
- If you write smut or include sex in the story, avoid illegal activities, scat or heavy BDSM. Aside from that, I leave it to the author.
- I prefer couples, so I’d like if you avoided triads and other polyamory.

What I can write: Any rating including NC17, sex (explicit or not), almost any pairing (except for the ones in the DISLIKE list) and pretty much anything that’s not in my DISLIKE list. If the moderator is unsure about it, please, just ask; I’m willing to give it a try to pretty much anything.
