Since it's a requirement that all authors have their work reviewed by a beta reader, here's a handy dandy post to help authors connect with beta readers (and vice versa).

Betas: Comment with your LJ name, best way to contact you, and a brief description of what you can read.

Authors: You can post a request for a beta here or get in touch directly with a beta, BUT please be careful of saying anything that will give away your recipient's identity / gift!

I do not check that email address frequently, so I would hate for days/weeks to go by without you receiving a response. Commenting will ping me at my personal email address so I know to be on the lookout for an email. :)

What I Can Read: I am willing to read just about anything - any character, pairing, length, etc. The only thing I wouldn't want to read is permanent character death (temporary or not!dead are fine though). I have a good grasp on canon and all of the characters, so I can help with characterization, dialogue, plot points, etc. as needed. I also write web content for a living, so I think I have a pretty good eye for spelling and grammatical errors as well.

I can beta pretty much any character or pairing. I feel like I have a good sense of the characters, though I will admit to being a McShep girl.

I love all my Atlantis peeps. I can beta het or femslash, if needed. The only thing I ask is no permanent death for John or Rodney, or Team, really, and no zombies. Oh, I squick over Wraith/human pairings, so please no.

Otherwise I am up for most anything.

Do you need a cheerleader or beta-reader for your Secret Santa fic? I genuinely like fanfiction & fic writers, & I'd love to cheer you on when you need it. I'm comfortable with reading for SPaG, STEM-in-general (i.e., I'm no expert but I'm more familiar with Science, Technology, Engineering & Math than the average bear) &/or continuity & overall flow. I think I have a decent grasp on the main characters & their voices, tho' I might lean toward fanon when it diverges from canon. You determine what you want me to do & how gentle or tough my critique should be--my 'job' is to do whatever is helpful to you.

I'm comfortable with reading gen or most pairings/relationships, kinky or not, but I have a hard time with characters being humiliated (except by bad guys, & they end up rescued by good guys) & with non-canonical deaths of central characters.
